What is Ayurvedic Nutrition?

Ayurveda, the sister science of Yoga, teaches us how to live in balance and harmony with the seasons and our environment. Ayurvedic nutrition is more than just a diet; it’s a lifestyle that harmonises the body with nature. Food is medicine, and people’s dietary needs differ depending on their unique mind-body constitution. The three doshas, Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, are present within all cells in our body and govern various physiological and psychological functions. Their balance is crucial for maintaining health and well-being, while imbalances can lead to illness and disease.

Ayurvedic nutrition offers a unique and holistic approach to eating, restoring balance to the doshas through mindful eating and lifestyle choices.

Vata

Vata consists of air and space and is the energy of movement.

Vata controls bodily functions such as circulation, respiration and movement.

Anxiety and panic attacks are signs this dosha is out of balance.

Pitta

Pitta consists of fire and water and transforms matter into energy.

Pitta controls temperature, metabolism and digestion.

Anger and irritation are signs that this dosha is out of balance.

Kapha

Kapha consists of earth and water & governs the structure of the body.

Kapha controls weight, growth and formation of all tissues.
